How Governance Works

The 404 DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization)

Traditional DAOs have committees and formal processes. We have proposals and vibes.

Voting Power:

1 $404 token = 1 vote

Simple. Chaotic. Democratic.

Proposal Types:

• Feature Proposals — "Let's build [X]"

• Partnership Proposals — "Let's collaborate with [Y]"

• Treasury Proposals — "Let's spend funds on [Z]"

• Chaos Proposals — "Let's do something weird"

• Meta Proposals — "Let's change how proposals work"

Voting Threshold:

• Simple Majority: 51% to pass regular proposals

• Supermajority: 70% for treasury spending >$10k

• Absolute Majority: 80% to change governance rules

• Chaos Majority: 40.4% if it's funny enough

Proposal Process

Ideation Phase

• Post your idea in Discord/Telegram

• Get community feedback

• Refine based on vibes

• Check if it's broken enough to be on-brand

Draft Proposal

Create a proposal including:

• Title: Make it memorable

• Description: What are we building/doing?

• Budget: How much from treasury?

• Timeline: How long will this take?

• Success Metrics: How do we know it worked?

• Failure Metrics: How do we know it failed spectacularly?

Temperature Check

• Post in governance forum

• 7-day discussion period

• Gather initial support

• Minimum 404 reactions to proceed

Formal Vote

• 5-day voting period

• Snapshot governance (or on-chain, TBD)

• Voting is weighted by token holdings

• Results are binding*

*Unless they're really dumb, then we vote again.

Execution

• Passed proposals get implemented

• Community tracks progress

• Failed proposals get archived

• Chaos proposals get... chaotic results
